"Thank you very much for asking me to be on this show. It's wonderful to be here!"
"Oh no problem, we'd love to have a quick chat with you! Now, let's have a talk about the rewards in the Olympics. Would it be possible we hear a bit about what the winners got when they won, and the differences between the ancient and modern society generally speaking? And were the standards of individual achievements different or similar to those of today?"
"Definately! In the ancient society in games, the rewards were a bit different to the ones nowadays. Back in those times, the athlete that reached victory not only brought glory to himself, but also to his hometown. The awards ceremony would go something like this. Almost immediately after the athlete has won the event, his name, his father's name and also his hometown would be announced to the entire crowd watching. Then handed a palm branch and red woolen ribbons around his head, arm and leg, a song was ready to be played (custom song). All the while the crowd would be cheering for him. Later on, the winner would parade and have a feast that usually lasts a whole night before morning comes and he places offerings and prayers on the altar. The after awards ceremony was an amazing event with onlookers tossing petals and wreaths made from sacred olive trees were displayed on ivory tables.
In this modern age, the ceremony is a lot less complicated, but is still a great cause for celebration. The standards of the olympians are not very well known because of the statistics, but I would say, if they got a good amount of training and the right diet, they would be on a roll!"
"Thank you very much for your information, we will be back after the short break and continue our discussion. Stay tuned!"
